A wind driven, 200 megawatt (MW) power project is on its way to becoming a reality in Millard and Beaver Counties. The facility will be built in the Milford valley and extend north into Millard County said Krista Kish, UPC Director of Development. The proposed Milford Wind Corridor project will be on both private and BLM-managed public lands in Beaver and Millard Counties. Wind power generated by eighty 2.5-MW wind turbine generators from the proposed facility would be transmitted to the Intermountain Power Project (IPP) substation in Delta, which would require a transmission line crossing predominantly public lands. Power will then be transmitted for use by the Southern California Public Power Authority. The project will also include: Up to eight temporary meteorological towers and four permanent meteorological towers; A 34.5-kV power underground collection system linking each turbine to the next and to the Facility substation; A facility collector substation; A transmission line for interconnection with the IPP substation in Delta; An interconnection facility (i.e., switching station), at the connection between the Facility transmission line and the IPP substation; Approximately 36 miles of newly constructed access roads and turnaround areas; and a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Local jobs and contracting opportunities are expected to develop from the project.
