| Milford, UT — June 25, 2010 — First Wind, an independent U.S.-based wind energy company, today announced it has donated funds to help support the annual Independence Day fireworks in the city of Milford.
First Wind donated $5,600 to help fund the fireworks, and another $2,000 to contribute to enhancements being made to Milford’s baseball/softball recreation complex.
In addition, First Wind donated $2,000 to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and their effort to restore the historic Beaver County Courthouse in Beaver, UT. The museum contains historical artifacts from the 1840s through World War II, and First Wind’s donation will be used to purchase a reception desk and display cases.
“The city of Milford has been a great friend and a tremendous partner for First Wind, so we’re pleased to help the citizens of Milford celebrate our nation’s independence,” said First Wind Director of Development Peter Sullivan. “We’re proud to be a part of Milford and Beaver County and we are glad we can help with these projects that are important to the community.”
First Wind owns and operates the largest utility-scale operating wind farm in Utah, the 204 MW Milford Wind project in Milford, UT. This project provides renewable energy for 44,000 homes. First Wind also plans to build the 102 MW Milford II project.
