Hear what environmentalists are saying about clean, renewable wind energy

Milford Wind will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power over 44,500 Utah homes each year, without any air emissions, water pollution, or greenhouse gases, a leading cause of global warming.

  • Reduced use of fossil fuels: A traditional fossil fueled generation facility producing an equivalent amount of electric energy would consume over 940,000 barrels of oil per year or over 267,000 tons of coal per year.

  • Fewer emissions: Based on data recently published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (U.S. EPA) Emissions and Generation Resource Integrated Database (E-GRID), traditional generation sources producing an equivalent annual amount of electric energy would emit greenhouse gases (GHG) consisting of nearly 220,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and 389 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx). To put this in perspective, 220,000 tons of CO2 is equivalent to the annual emissions of over 38,000 cars or over 27,000 SUVs. Equivalent energy production from traditional sources would produce 303 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2). Both SO2 and NOx cause acid rain, which harms our lakes and rivers.
  • Decreases Utah’s carbon footprint: Milford Wind will help Utah reach its renewable energy goals while moving America toward greater energy independence.
